Ok, here's the most politically incorrect thing but something I think needs to be said: Sherman Hills needs to be closed or so drastically altered that it's not a get-out-of-jail-free card for
every dislocated gangbanger, drug dealer and potential murderer from Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York.
AND ALL ON OUR DIME!! It's our taxpayer dollars that's allowing these creeps a place to do things like gunning down two kids in the middle of the afternoon.
It's our tax dollars that are "rewarding" welfare mothers to have more and more kids and get an apartment cheap (or for free) and never have to work, just keep spreading their legs when the next cash or benefit inducement comes along from the federal government.
What needs to be done here is zero-based. Start screening every occupant and potential occupant and hold them to a MUCH higher standard than in the past.
And get the friggin' management to DO something, not sit around with their thumbs up their asses. If this was private property with a private owner 99 percent of this would never be allowed to happen. So get your shit together folks.
Of course, this is all part of a larger picture where so many people are part of an entitlement section of society, where they know how to game the system to get cheap rent, free food and bedroom space for their Crip form Philly or Blood from Brooklyn.
I don't care what HUD says, someone somewhere needs to do something.
I'm not enamored of Leighton's one-strike ordinance but if they'll apply it to Sherman Hills so that when an incident like this shooting takes place they'll close the ENTIRE building then I'll swing 100 percent behind it.
This is war, folks, and we're losing.
