Got an email from Verizon -- I thought, it looked totally, perfectly, completely right -- saying that my credit card had expired and I needed to update the info. I knew some credit cards were indeed expiring so -- like a fool -- I filled out the form, gave them a new credit card number AND my Social Security number. Then this am I got a call from the "fraud division" of Citi Bank Cards asking if I authorized two purchases, which I didn't. Luckily they closed the account and said because it was fraud I wasn't responsible. So now I have to go through every credit card and make sure they haven't been hacked. Just wanted to give a heads up to others who may get this same email. So now I now for sure to NEVER give up your personal info unless you've double or triple checked.

Elderly people are especially vulnerable to scams of all types, and it is important to frequently remind them to never give out any information.
