It seems a pack of untrained gerbils were put in charge of drafting the new "rules" for Sherman Hills. It must be because no sentient human being would be this ridiculous.
Essentially, Sherman Hills hasn't proposed anything to make the RESIDENTS safer. What they've done is propose rules that make the
PARKING LOT safer.
I wish I was joshing but I'm not.
Their grand rules include: "tenants must provide a driver's license and paperwork to receive a parking sticker; vehicles must be registered to tenants; visitors must receive a pass issued by the office in order to park in the visitor's lot."
Hey, gerbils, you missed one salient point: If a gangbanger is coming form Philadelphia to do a revenge shooting for being "disrespected," which seems to be enough of a reason to kill someone these days, HE DOES NOT HAVE TO PARK IN THE VISITOR'S LOT!!!!!!!
In fact, why would he? Why would he reveal his presence? Why would he make his vehicle and license plate known?
Answer: HE WOULDN'T.
So while it's nice that the law-abiding residents will have some rules to follow, it ain't gonna do a damn thing about crime.
This is just a sop thrown to the public to show that they are doing "something" about crime. It's smoke and mirrors without any real deterrence potential. Just the kind of thing a PR flak would recommend. And I should know, I was a PR flak at colleges and universities for 25 years.
So, hope these gerbils have arms long enough to pat themselves on the back. What they've done is exactly nothing.
