Man, have we come a long way from the days of Nikita Khruschev taking his shoe off and pounding the lectern with it as he told the UN that the USSR would "bury" the West!
And, as a career-long PR practitioner, it's almost breath-taking as to how fast and thoroughly Putin has been able to pull the rug out from underneath Obama and indeed all the Western governments who have been vainly rubbing their hands together over Syria for months. O tempora, o mores.
