Yeah, a front page denial of pretty much everything: We're not in trouble, we're as successful as that other innovative product, the Ford Edsel (oops!), our numbers are higher than nude views of Angelina Jolie and that "other paper" lies, lies, lies.
Amazing how much the prose sounds like the cadence of Connor but we would never think that a numbers cruncher could stoop to having the disgraced write this crap for him, would we?
Well, I'm sure this is all a nervous advertiser needed to calm his fears: More blue smoke, mirrors and rabid dogs shit.
Meanwhile, the CV IS doing its own numbers spinning, no doubt about that, but I think it's safe to say there's enough room that everyone can claim a bunch of lies and not worry about leaving the other guy short, ala Disraeil's "there are lies, damned lies and statistics."
Well, children, just pretend he's a little balder, a LOT richer, close your eyes and read on, read on....

Proof that we are thriving plentiful
We don't like to talk about ourselves, but when the truth needs to be told, we consider it our top obligation.
I want to put the rumors to rest by assuring our readers, advertisers and partners that we are here to stay and continue to operate as a vibrant multimedia company.
After all, our job is to keep the community informed.
Lately, the other newspaper in town has implied -- through news stories using anonymous sources and links to other businesses hundreds of miles away – that there is instability at The Times Leader.
I want to put the rumors to rest by assuring our readers, advertisers and partners that we are here to stay and continue to operate as a vibrant multimedia company. The proof is in our achievements, contributions and commitment to this community.
Our circulation is growing. The recently published Audit Bureau of Circulations numbers clearly show that The Times Leader and its branded editions now reach more than 70,000 homes on Sunday, and more than 40,000 homes daily, on a five-day average.
The same report reflected that The Times Leader on Sunday gained 18,296 print subscribers, including branded editions. For the same period, The Sunday Voice and The Sunday Standard Speaker, which report their numbers as one combined entity, lost 595 print subscribers.
The Citizens’ Voice daily edition lost 1,362 print subscribers and The Standard Speaker lost 836 print subscribers, for a total loss of 2,198 copies, whereas the daily edition of The Times Leader saw a loss of only 128 print subscribers.
But that’s just one part of our story. As the media landscape changes, we have been proactive in keeping up with the changes in reader habits as well as getting advertisers’ messages across through new mediums.
We deliver news with e-editions, on mobile phone versions and with text alerts. The Times Leader was the second newspaper in the state with an iPad app.
And we continually refine and update our website and delivery platforms. The Times Leader online audience continues to grow. According to Google Analytics, timesleader.com saw more than 783,000 unique visitors for September 2011, an increase of 26 percent over September 2010.
Maybe that’s because we have more locally written stories and local photos compared to the other paper. We know because we measure our efforts every day.
We also measure advertising. In real estate display advertising alone, our linage is up 27 percent compared to last year. We now have more than 82 percent of the real estate print advertising in this market.
In fact, we have 73 percent of the employment advertising and 70 percent of the automotive advertising. While we continue to build and invest in our solid print foundation, we are also marching fast toward the new emerging multimedia offerings.
Our company offers small and medium businesses website development, social media marketing, search engine optimization and marketing, and QR code marketing and tracking, among many other services. We’ve been recognized for all these efforts. Our news team wins dozens of awards for quality journalism every year. Our website recently won the prestigious W3 mobile marketing award, rating our work alongside top businesses in the country such as HBO and E!.
All this success allows us to be a partner in the community, presenting events such as Great Women of NEPA and the annual Best and Brightest Awards, and sponsoring the local Scripps National Spelling Bee, which led to a local student becoming the national champion speller in Washington this year.
We are proud to contribute to many community organizations, such as the Association for the Blind, and sponsor forums for voters to meet the candidates.
We are a local company, with local printing and local service – unlike that other newspaper, which continues to move services and workforce out of the Wyoming Valley and Luzerne County.
We are here for you.
