It occurs to me that a great way to spend some county money would be to hire two full-time auditorw who would do nothing but systematidally audit each and every account in the County. No matter WHAT their salaries would be we would be sure to get back at least five times our money.....bob q

Attorney Angela Stevens informed Luzerne County officials on Monday her law firm will hire a company to review and correct errors in bills she submitted. Her bills, submitted for representing parents of children taken from their homes on allegations of abuse or neglect, included double-billing of time spent preparing and delivering court petitions.
Despite Stevens’ offer, Luzerne County Controller Walter L. Griffith Jr. said he will still seek proposals for forensic-audit services to examine the bills, which cost more than $ 140,000 last year. The deadline to submit proposals is March 9.
President Judge Thomas F. Burke Jr. said he supports a forensic audit of all bills from attorneys appointed to represent parents in juvenile dependency cases. The judiciary is looking to implement an internal review of invoices prior to a judges authorizing payment, Burke said.
