This morning, a news story on citizensvoice.com shared news that Versa has now purchased the Impressions Media. Impressions Media is the owner of daily and weekly newspaper operations in the northeastern Pennsylvania area.
Versa has collected a diverse portfolio of properties in addition to newspapers, including a chain of shoe stores, a manufacturer of rubber tape, a set of parking garages, and a chain of steakhouses (click here for a representative sampling on their website). The company, according to the online journalism site Poynter.org, “specializes in buying “distressed properties.”” It acquired most of the assets of the Inquirer’s prior owner, Brown Publishing, after Brown’s bankruptcy.
